can any one help me with my 3 cyl diesel taskmaster trooper.?
my tractor is sometimes hard to start and when started gives of heavy black smoke. when working it gives off lots of light blue smoke. also it stinks like fuel. when i drive it does not give enough power as it should. it only has 55 hrs.
Since your tractor stinks like fuel, let's start there, and not worry too much about it being oil. A whole bunch of things can cause the hard start issue: Is the battery turning it over fast enough? If not, is it actually the battery, or it the starter dragging? Probably not on such a new machine. - If your fuel filter/water separator is plugged, it will cause all of the problems you talked about. - If your injectors are bleeding down into the cylinders, it will make the engine hard to start, and smoke like a chimney when it first starts. (again, probably not) One thing with small diesels: People have a tendency to overwork them, and even a perfectly running machine will smoke when working hard. A little puffing of smoke especially when cold is nothing to be alarmed about. **It is very important to let your engine warm up before you work it. A cold diesel is ALWAYS going to smoke if your pulling it. If you are filling your tractor out of metal cans, or above ground metal tanks, condensation in the fuel is a problem, especially this time of year when temps go from hot to cold. I would start by changing filters. Make sure you look to see if there is more than one. A lot of small diesels have a canister, and an in-line.
