Can someone help me find a Detroit Diesel valve adjustment manual, 1999?
I am a diesel mechanic that wants to learn overhead adjustments. I have found a Cummins N-14 procedure online and done that, once, with help from a more experienced tech. With the info I have I could do an N14 engine again on my own. We have a Detroit 60 Series in the shop, we're waiting for the head. I could do the overhead with the same tech, but I want to study first, try to memorize the procedure. I have looked online some, but no luck so far.
they adjust by pair 1-4 and 2-3.
when the injector lever in cylinder one in going down Adjust the valves in cylinder one and the injector in cylinder 4. and viceversa injector down in cylinder 4 adjust valves in number 4 and injector 1
the exhast valves have exagonal head in top 9/32 and the lock nut is 9/16 (the longs rocker arms) the gap is .026 of inch
the intakes valves use 1/4 allen wrange and the lock nut is 9/16 (short rocker arm) the gap is 0.008 of an inch
for adjusting the injector You Must have the "injector timing tool" the timing measures are in the valves cover.( the most common is .88 mm)

do not look for chilton chilton is for weekend warrior. the only book available is from DDC
as You noticed does not look like N-14 cummings
WARNINGS
to turn the engine You need to use 1 7/16 inch wrenge in the bolt of the accesories pulley BUT BE SURE YOU DON'T HAVE THE BATTERIES CONNECTED TO ECM.
