Will rubber build up on my fly wheel from previous belts cause new ones to break?
I have gone through 3 belts in the past 3 weeks each one wearing out sooner and there is no resistance from any of the pulleys on the system and nothing is rubbing against it.....anyone?
My apologies not fly wheel, harmonic balancer, and there is no belt tensioner the alternator has an adjustment bolt that acts as the tensioner.
you have something wrong that your eating belts like that, i would say you have a bad pulley someplace as there wouldn't be black belt marks on your balancer if the belt was running freely, the belt is slipping and burning from stress someplace.
