Any tips on securing the front wheel of my bike on a flatbed trailer?
I'm loading up my Honda VT750DC on a Uhaul 5x10 flatbed next weekend. I've loaded up bikes on motorcycle trailers before that have rails and a way to secure the front wheel so it doesn't turn, so tying down a motorcycle isn't that new to me. I just need some tips on how to secure the front wheel such as this on the Uhaul flatbed, or is it even necessary?
Thanks Kiffin, I don't know why I didn't think about just strapping the front tire directly to the trailer. Now that you mention it, I actually do remember watching somebody do that once. I can't believe I forgot about it. Thanks for helping me remember!!
Even though you didn't answer my question xjr1300 thanks for telling me how to strap it down. Maybe I just didn't word my question very well. I know how to strap down a bike well, but before I read Kiffin's response, I was unsure of how to secure the front tire from turning and keep it in place.
Buy a chain and pass it through the front wheel and fasten it to any upright post or suitable location on the trailer. Fasten it with a lock and you'll also minimize theft if you stop for food or something along the way.
