how can i tell if my outer tie rod is bad or my inner tie rod is bad?
People keep telling me if I'm able to jack up my car and move the tire back and front on the sides then my tie rod is bad. Now how can you tell whether its the outer or inner tie rod? And if you could let me know how I can tell either are bad would be awesome. Thanks!
With the frint tires off the ground, have someone rock the tire back and forth and observe the tie rods. If you see movement (play) in the ball/socket assembly of any of the tie rods, it is bad and needs replacing.
