I can't start my tractor?
I have an older Power King tractor. I have had problems starting it recently and have had to charge/jump it the last 2 times to start it. Today I tried to start it and nothing. No noises, clicking nothing. I bought a new battery and installed it hoping this would fix the problem. Nope - same thing. This is the limit of my knowledge - I know it may be the voltage regulator, etc. but is there a way to test any of this? Also, is there any way to start the tractor by bypassing of jumping over this for a temporary start?
Thank you very much for your time and your help!!
If it is an older tractor then I assume it might be an older battery. These smaller batteries, once they get old and die, become pretty much useless even after recharging. Secondly, remember that on most of these there is a safety switch under the seat, (if you aren't in the seat the current is cut off), and also most require you to push in the brake to start the tractor. If the tractor has been sitting out then the ignition switch could be corroded. The fact that you are getting nothing at all suggests that either the battery is completely dead, the switch is bad, or one of the safety switches is either bad or not activated.
You might try connecting a jumper cable to a good battery and then your negative to ground and the positve to the positive post of the starter.
