1999 chaparral propeller shaft removal?
I have a 1999 chaparral and the propeller shaft is bent. Its a alpha one generation 2 out drive. I pulled out the cover nut and the bearing carrier o-ring. I want to remove the shaft easily but its not coming out. Are there any tricks to pull it out. Or do i have to separate the upper and lower unit.
(When i looked inside the lower unit, all gears looked perfect.)
If you have any ideas please let me know. Thanks in advance.
You have to remove the gearcase, then remove the pinion gear and drive shaft. You will need specialty tools for this job, best to take it to a Merc dealer.
